Guide to Coviu Link Integration

This article describes how you can set up a link integration to embed your User Room or Waiting Area links in your Practice Management System.

On this page:

Requirements

  • The practitioner needs a Coviu account.
  • The practitioner needs to be signed into the Coviu account.
  • The Coviu customer has an established workflow (i.e. where patients are currently directed to).
  • Standard or Premium plan: the Waiting Area link (strongly recommended for GPs / multi-clinician practices).
  • Essentials plan: the Reception Meeting Room link or User Room link(s).

Setup

  • Each Coviu customer has a unique domain in the form [practice_name].coviu.com.
  • Rooms are virtual meeting places in Coviu, much like physical rooms.
  • Clinicians can enter a shared room (e.g. Meeting Rooms, Reception, etc.) without permission.
  • Patients need to be admitted to any room.

Note:

  • If you are on the Essentials plan, you get a single shared room, which is called Reception. This is a buffer room that you can use if you don't want people to directly access the clinicians' rooms - just like in real life.
  • If you are on the Standard plan, you get 2 shared rooms, which are called Reception and Team Meeting. You also have a Waiting Area.
  • If you are on the Premium plan, you can set up as many shared rooms as you need by simply clicking on Create A New Room on your Dashboard. You also have a Waiting Area.

High-level workflows

  • All Coviu customers have a subdomain of the form {name}.coviu.com.
  • Coviu customers have a defined workflow, where patients are directed to virtual room links.

Coviu Link Integration

Patient experience

The practitioner needs to send the patient the appropriate Coviu link (through an invitation) to join the video call.

They will then be prompted to provide camera and microphone access if that is the first time they use Coviu.

The patient will then be prompted to enter their details.

Once that is done, the patient will be taken to the Waiting Room and remain there until they are accepted into the session.

Practitioner experience

The practitioner needs to be sent to Coviu in order to collect the incoming patient, for example using a link in a Practice Management System:

The practitioner needs to be able to log into Coviu.

If you are on the Premium Plan and have shared the Waiting Area link, the Waiting Area will look something like the one shown below:

Enter the relevant room and the patient will show up in the Call Manager.

Practice setup experience

The Practice needs to be able to communicate the destination URL for patients, either for each clinician (i.e. a unique link per clinician) or for the entire practice (i.e. a single common link).
